The Book of Revelation is the only prophetic book in the New Testament.
God’s purpose is to establish His kingdom on earth and dwell with humanity (Revelation 4:8; Revelation 21:2-4). When God comes to earth, there will be no death and eternal life.
For God, fulfilling prophecy is keeping His promise, and for people, seeing and believing the fulfillment of prophecy is keeping His promise.
The Book of Revelation is the prophetic word that Jesus Christ will personally fulfill upon His return.
This is not the return of the already deceased Apostle John, but rather the beginning of history when Jesus chooses a shepherd like John to whom He entrusts the prophetic mission, a shepherd like John, and reveals to him the will of heaven and the secrets of revelation.
Just as in Revelation 1, God appeared to Jesus, and Jesus sent an angel to reveal the truth to his servant John, so too in these last days, God raises up a messenger through Jesus and sends him (Revelation 22:16) to bear witness to the reality that has been fulfilled.
This shepherd is the one who receives the Holy Spirit and the word of Jesus and bears witness to the churches. He is the witness who reveals the secrets of heaven, and through him, the history of the new heaven and new earth begins.
Therefore, the prophecy in Revelation is not a mere symbol or allegory. It is a historical event that Jesus Himself fulfills in due time and testifies to the world through one of His chosen people.
This is the fulfillment of prophecy and evidence of God’s keeping His promise.
And by seeing, hearing, and believing in the reality that has been fulfilled, people participate in the promise of God and Jesus.
